WebJun 30, 2024 · Direct Drive vs Bowden Extruder: The Differences. by Tobias Hullette. Updated Jun 30, 2024. WebI have several enders and a voron. One ender is direct drive, the other two are not. I print TPU on the bowden tube with little issues. Direct drive won't necessarily fix the issue you are having. If you want to do that route you can but the fix can be cheaper and less work than replacing the extruder.
Webmaterial in this book may be used to learn the basics of applied extrusion theory, and provide troubleshoot-ing guidelines with solutions to many common problems encountered in fabrication of thermoplastic films. The sources of the material covered in Film Extrusion Manualwas selected from a combination of sources WebRetraction Speed: Extruder motor speed on retraction. A higher value improves stringing, but if it is too high it may skip steps in the motor. Minimum travel after retraction: Amount of move that will trigger a retraction (mm). WebJan 2, 2024 · On a direct drive extruder you shouldn't need to go above 1.5mm at 40mm/s but can depend on the filament. Some filaments are far stringier than others and it can be difficult (sometimes impossible) to eradicate it completely. Best thing to do is dial in your retraction for your particular filament.
