The starter gear teeth (center to center) are 3/8 inch. Won't fit regardless of diameter of each component. I think. Starter tested good. But I notice when I tried to crank over engine, the starter would not fully disengage from the flex plate, like it was stuck.

When i got my 63 it already had a c6 in it, But they had put the old fmx [ 153 tooth] flex plate in it, With a late model starter, The old gal did not like that, it sounded terrible, but it did start.
